First class cheap first class airfares guide

Split tickets – one plus one cheap airfares economy airticket do not add up to two?

Well, how could this be? The magic of split ticket is that it’s possible, especially if you are travelling through a hub city. That essentially means you will get a cheaper ticket cost whether it’s a cheap airfares economy airticket or a cheap first class cheap first class airfares ticket.

In a way, you could then save up the time to research and look for those economy or first class cheap discount airline. You won’t get an economy or first class free airfares (but see companion ticket strategy) under this strategy but at least you will still save up considerably on your airline ticket.

How does it work? In other words, instead of flying round trip Los Angeles-New York (in the US market), it could be cheaper if you purchase two separate tickets through Las Vegas (such as a New York-Las Vegas roundtrip ticket and then a Las Vegas-Los Angeles roundtrip ticket). It’s the hub thing.

Las Vegas is one of the best cities for finding cheap airfares economy airticket or cheap first class airfares ticket.

Low-cost cheap discount airline companies tend to use Las Vegas as a hub city such as Southwest, and thus they offer low excellent prices into and out of the city.

As usual, when you have low cost airlines around, the major carriers tend to match such low prices.

Thus separate split tickets through Las Vegas could be better than one straight ticket if you want to lower your cost and get a cheap airfares economy airticket or cheap first class airfares ticket for your travelling.

As said earlier, you won’t get an economy or first class free airfares (but see companion ticket strategy) under this strategy but at least you will still save up considerably on your airline ticket.

Sometimes it even beats the discount you could get on a single economy or first class cheap discount airline ticket.

The trick is thus to check out such intermediate hub cities. Split ticket trips could also help out your frequent flyer miles program but obviously, the disadvantage is that the time incurred and flying hours are obviously longer, so it may not be suitable for those in a hurry.

However, the savings from this strategy to get a cheap economy airticket or first class cheap first class airfares ticket tends to be spectacular.

In the US, the major hubs for its various airlines include Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Los Angeles,  Washington, Miami, New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Newark, Philadelphia, Dallas, etc for airlines such as Delta, American, United, Continental, etc.

For international travel, London is obviously the best city to use as the intermediate hub especially for flights from US to European cities or to the Middle East or even Asia or Africa.

You should always consider London as the international hub to get cheap airfares economy airticket or cheap first class airfares

What are the things to look out under this strategy? For one, it’s better to use the same airline or affiliated airlines.

Otherwise, make sure you allocate some connecting time between the unaffiliated airlines, which could be at least two to four hours on international flights.

You don’t want to get a bargain cheap economy or first class cheap first class airfares ticket but missed the connecting flight, right?

Furthermore, note that on unaffiliated airlines, you may have to claim and then recheck your baggage on the two flights.

A weak currency could also make spectacular savings on split tickets, especially if you are flying first class, business class or full fare premium coach even if you already got some savings from having say secure a first class cheap discount airline ticket.

Sponsored Sites:

For example, say you are flying from Los Angeles, United States to Bangkok, Thailand. What you can do is buy your outbound ticket in the US in dollars, but buy the return one-way ticket in Thailand, and pay in dollars there.

Many times, because of the weak foreign currencies, the savings is huge.

In fact, if you fly frequently between two destinations, you could really maximise the savings. How?

Purchase a one-way ticket from the United States to the overseas destination and when you are there, buy not a one-way ticket from there but a roundtrip ticket instead – for your trip home and the next return there.

Another saving is to look at free stopovers, which hypothetically mean you get economy, business or first class free airfares for the distance, depending on the ticket class you purchased.

For example, in a foreign country, an airline charges the same fare for the flight to their main headquarters in that country and other nearby destinations reached by changing planes at the main airport.

Called common-rated, it essentially means free stopovers are allowed.

For example, when you are flying to Malaysia, book Los Angeles-Penang instead of Los Angeles-Kuala Lumpur and you get a free stopover in Kuala Lumpur. So do note of this free stopovers strategy especially when you have to fly on several connecting flights.

Editor’s note:
